BEST SNOW ON EARTH
When you show up to Snowbasin with your car stuffed full of Gore-Tex and 4% beer, you aren’t just expecting face shots and a jam-packed après ski scene. You’re also expecting above-and-beyond customer service—the kind that hands you an orange every time you get off the chairlift.
For a relatively inexpensive lift ticket, the perks are piled high—short lines, room to shred, and plenty to do when you wake up and your legs are dying for an off day. Snowbasin approached us asking for help designing a website to match their on-site experience.
We jumped at the opportunity.
We set out to create a website that delivered both on simplicity and usability. There’s hardly anything more annoying than having to dig through the bowels of a website to find an accurate snow report. Thus, our primary focus was clarity. We revamped the sitemap, updated page layout, and organized content all while digging into the extensive library of assets provided by the resort.
An additional challenge was creating the proper space for peripheral content—sometimes Mom and Dad need to get their kicks while Shredder Jr. hits the slopes. Bright colors denoting zone changes, sharp imagery, and clear call-out buttons were sprinkled throughout lending flow while packing in plenty of information.
A major consideration for this audience is device. Only a small slice would ever be viewing the site on a desktop so the importance of total responsiveness was immediately evident.
And finally, creating a site with back-end usability was imperative—the good people at Snowbasin needed to be able to modify content without wanting to throw their mice across the room. The end result: see for yourself.
